 Caller ID
I love nettalk, but I've opened a trouble ticket last november and my problem is not resolved! My outgoing caller ID still says some random city over a hundred miles away from where I live. I told them about this and the tech department said they would take care of this... the problem still remained, so I opened a trouble ticket and it still hasn't been fixed after they said repeatedly they would make the change to my actual city! then finally I tried to make contact again this week and reopen my trouble ticket only to have someone tell me I would have to change numbers to another city that might be closer but is still the wrong city! unbelieveable! then they said you could just wait for another number to become available that would have the right outgoing caller ID. This is just rediculous! fix this please or put me in touch with someone who can actually help me! thanks!

 Re: Caller ID
So, the CID doesn't match your actual phone number? Or is it that your actual phone number is not from your desired city/prefix?
I can kind of read it both ways.
NetTalk's response only makes sense with the latter, but your wording makes it sound like the former.

 Re: Caller ID
as in the city doesn't match where my location is... ex. my out going caller ID says "Port Townsend, WA" and I actually Live in "Olympia, WA" they are over a hundred miles apart. But I have the same area code (360) I was told by the tech department and on my trouble ticket that this would be resolved but still hasn't? does that make more sense?

You don't have a local phone number, though it IS within your desired area code. This is one of the age old problems of the VOIP world. They simply cannot provide all the possible prefixes and locales for phone numbers. Even Magic Jack, which has already been around for a couple years, does not offer prefixes in Olympia. In fact, they only offer two prefixes in the 360 area code: 353-Longview & 718 Vancouver. I'm afraid that NetTalk may not be able to fulfill your request. -Have you tried getting a free Google Voice number with your desired prefix? It can be auto-forwarded to your TK6000, and you can use your TK6000 to dial out with the Google Voice number (which means it will be seen in the caller ID). -The advice that NetTalk provided was sound. You can periodically monitor the available numbers at the portal, and if you see a better choice, you can change numbers for FREE. (at least for now). Perhaps when they start offering local number porting, you can get a local number ported over to your TK6000. I hope this helps, though it's not exactly what you were hoping for.

 Re: Caller ID
If i am correct are you talking about the CID in the portal or the CID that shows on your phone itself.
i Have noticed since the first day i have been using nettalk that the portal CID or whatever it shows where the call is originated from and where the call is going to- completely gives the wrong city.
This has always been my experience i wasn't that concern bout it. When i call a city in Arizona while i am located in Minnesota, it shows the destination of my call as philly or some random city that is thousands of miles away.

 Re: Caller ID
I'm taking care of your trouble ticket. The issue is unique because the actual number you have isn't local it is 100 miles away and thus it is showing the area that is 100 miles away. I don't think the outgoing CID name is changeable from my end but I'll see what I can do in regards. I do not want to change the number if you are accustomed to it.

 Re: Caller ID
So I'm sorry I did a poor job of explaining my situation.... So I guess in the end I would just like to have a number with the area code of (360) and with the outgoing Caller ID as "Olympia, Wa" because that is where I live. Does that make sense? I don't care about the prefixes or anything else I just want people to see "Olympia, Wa" when I'm calling! How do I make that happen?

I inferred that Vengy is going to attempt some database "trickery" to give you what you requested. Short of getting an actual local number, that is the best that you can hope for. If it turns out that it is not possible, you will at least know that the effort was made. At that point, you could consider some of the other ideas I proposed.

 Re: Caller ID
The simplest solution would be to get a number in Olympia, WA since your number is not from that area. The thing is, I do not want to change the number just yet considering that you've had that number for a while. So I am trying to see if it is possible to change (or use "trickery" ) to change your current number ID to "Olympia, WA". I must note this is not like changing the number as I have had some requests to change that and have been successful. Unfortunately cannot give you a yes or no whether this can be done or not right now.
